Grace Adventures Maintenance Building Burns Down

Grace Adventures

Maintenance Building Burns Down

May 2, 2014 Grace Adventures Maintenance Building Fire (Left) During fire (Right) Aftermath

Dear Friends and Family,

Earlier this morning we experienced a fire in our maintenance building. A staff member living next to the building woke up from a noise around 1:30am and found the building on fire. Local fire crews were immediately called on the scene and successfully fought the fire until around 6am. We are very thankful that no one, staff or fire crews, were hurt from the fire. Please be in prayer for our staff as we figure out the next steps. We are also thankful that this will not impact any current or future groups and programs scheduled on our campus.

As Christians and as an organization, we believe that God does everything for a reason. His Purpose and Will are above any plans and thoughts of man. We are saddened by the loss of a building and many materials, but they are just that, material. Tools can be replaced and new materials can be purchased. We are so thankful that no one was hurt during the fire and very thankful to the brave men and women who arrived to help us fight the fire.

We are reminded of the story of Job. Job had money, servants, family, health, and land, but God allowed Job to be tested in his faith. And even while Job had everything stripped away from him, he was always looking up to God, trusting and believing in His perfect Will.

"His wife said to him, 'Are you still maintaining your integrity? Curse God and die!'
He replied, 'You are talking like a foolish woman. Shall we accept good from God, and not trouble?'

In all this, Job did not sin in what he said."  Job 2:9-10

Below is our official press release:

Ride-A-Thon Response and Celebration

Paradise Ranch Ride-A-Thon 2014

Every year the Ride A Thon at Grace Adventure’s Paradise Ranch is a great experience! This year was no exception. The Lord blessed us with great weather and a great turn out, and over $11,000 raised to help impact people with Jesus Christ at the ranch. The $11,000 will be used to upgrade all the fencing at the ranch, rebuild some land bridges, and purchase some program equipment.

The 49 participants, (which is 21 more than last year) got to experience a variety of activities like cattle sorting, our cowboy challenge course, arena obstacle course and our beautiful trails.

On top of the great activities, there is always great food at the Ride A Thon! This year Steve Yonker came in and donated his time and talent to roast a 214lb pig, donated by Snyder Farms. Boy oh boy was it good!

We could not do what we do without the support of people who raise money for the Ride A Thon and those who help us promote and run it. This year Jenn  Kater helped us promote the event by creating a Facebook page and creating online awareness, Bruce Munn and Kathy Thompson did a fantastic job running our cattle sorting station again this year!

The positive response of the Ride-A-Thon this year has been breath-taking. As Ranch Manager, I plan out the day's activities, recruit volunteers, and quadruple check my schedule to try and find any holes or loss of intentionality in the program and it feels so good to hear the feedback from the participants and my own staff. Read some of these responses we received:

"The most beneficial part of the day was reconnecting with friends and enjoying the beautiful day and facilities! But just have to say, sorting cows is so much fun!!"

"Just all the new experiences: I loved riding my new horse and meeting new friends. My 11 year old granddaughter will be coming to the ranch camp and I am excited for her! Thank you for all you do there and God Bless You!"

"Grace is a happy place! It is so neat to see all the good God is doing through this camp."

Thank you to all who have supported the ranch ministry here at Grace Adventures over the years! We are so blessed with a rich history and are very excited to see where the Lord will take this ministry in the future!
